USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (USAID WA-WASH) signs a convention with the Burkina Faso Ministry of Economy and Finances.

Under the umbrella of Florida International University Research Foundation, USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (USAID WA-WASH) signed its convention with the Ministry of Economy and Finances of Burkina Faso, March 16, 2012 in Ouagadougou.

March 16, 2012 marks a milestone in the life of USAID WA-WASH. The signing ceremony was held at the office of the Direction Générale de la Coopération. Florida International University Research Foundation was represented by Dr. Lakhdar BOUKERROU, USAID WA-WASH Regional Director, and the Government of Burkina Faso was represented by Mr. Dimitri Frédéric MILLOGO of the Direction for NGOs Monitoring, on behalf of the Minister of Economy and Finances.

This convention is meant to authorize the Program to operate in Burkina Faso and to consolidate the relations and the cooperation between the populations of both the United States America and Burkina Faso, and to harmonize their actions in conformity with the economic, social, and cultural development objectives defined by the Government of Burkina Faso.

Before appending the signatures on the document, Mr. Dimitri Frédéric MILLOGO emphasized the content of the convention which includes the commitments of both sidesand specific provisions with regard to the Program operation in Burkina Faso.

In turn, Dr. BOUKERROU thanked the Government of Burkina Faso and the different services which contributed to the official registration of FIU Research Foundation as an NGO in charge of implementing USAID WA-WASH in the region.
