Visit of the African Diplomatic Corps Dean to the rural commune of Tanghin-Dassouri (Burkina Faso).

In partnership with the African Diplomatic Corps (ADC) in Ouagadougou, USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (USAID WA-WASH) will build 40 family latrines in the village of Bazoulé, located in the Rural Commune of Tanghin-Dassouri, Province of Kadiogo, Burkina Faso. In prelude to the inception of the project, H.E.M. Abdelkrim Benchiah, Ambassador of Algeria, representing the ADC in Ouagadougou did a trip to the commune of Tanghin-Dassouri, on Wednesday January 23, 2013.

USAID WA-WASH Program trains local artisans in manufacturing the multi-family rope pump in (Koudougou).

USAID WA-WASH Program, through its partner WINROCK International, held a training workshop on December 10-16, 2012 in Koudougou, Province of Bulkiemdé, Burkina Faso in manufacturing multi-family rope pump for artisan welders in its intervention areas. The training was attended by four (04) welders, two (02) of a welding shop in the area of Boromo and (02) others selected in the Koudougou area.

USAID WA-WASH builds capacities in the field of climate vulnerability and capacity analysis in Niamey (Niger).

On December 10-14 2012, the USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (USAID WA-WASH) organized its second workshop on Climate Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis (CVCA). The workshop took place in Niamey, Niger, and was conducted by CARE International, an implementing partner of the USAID WA-WASH Program, with the collaboration of Florida International University.

Climate Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis (CVCA) was the main theme of a workshop organized by USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (USAID WA-WASH) on December 03-07, 2012, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The training was conducted by CARE International, with the collaboration of Florida International University and Winrock International.

On August 16-17, 2012, USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (USAID WA-WASH) partner, Winrock International, organized a workshop on the Multiple-Use Services (MUS) approach. The workshop hosted 30 government officials and project partners in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, to introduce the (MUS) approach that WINROCK will use to deliver improved water services to 20,000 people in Burkina Faso. This workshop has been held in the context of the implementation of USAID WA-WASH Program activities.

USAID West Africa Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (USAID WA-WASH) organized a workshop on Global Development Alliances and Partnerships (GDA/P) on July 20, 2012 at the Hotel Laïco in Ouagadougou. Sixteen participants from public and private sectors, Foundations and local governments attended the workshop. It allowed the participants to best understand USAID WA-WASH GDA/P goals and approach.

USAID WA-WASH to enhance human resources capacities in water, sanitation and hygiene, food security and adaptation to climate change in West Africa

USAID WA-WASH program held a Capacity Building Forum July 16-18, 2012, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The major objective of the Forum was to coordinate Capacity Building Activities among the USAID WA-WASH partners and to present the Program Capacities Building Framework to the various stakeholders. The Program seeks to develop capacity in WASH, food security and Climate Change sectors.

USAID WA-WASH holds its first international event

 For the first time, Africa hosted the 13th Water Information Summit, an opportunity which gathered, in the Burkinabe capital "Ouagadougou", on April 11-13, 2012, information specialists, web site managers, scientists, policymakers, and other stakeholders, to discuss the regional perspectives on water information, to present and discuss case studies of the implementation of international, national, regional, and local water information systems and to examine the use of the Internet to disseminate water information.
